Alvin Community College is revitalizing the 2-mile jogging trail that winds through the heart of campus and serves as one of its most important community resources.
Once completed, the upgrades will improve the look, the safety and the functionality of the trail for those who use it on a daily basis. For decades, the ACC jogging trail has been a place where neighbors meet, families walk and students recharge between classes.
Construction is underway, and portions of the trail will remain open throughout the process with signage marking safe areas for use. The newly renovated trail will make its debut during the Tails and Trails event on September 27.
The improvements will include new covered resting areas and planters, each featuring instructions for various exercises to encourage healthy living.
The ACC Foundation is seeking sponsorships to help fund these enhancements. Sponsorship options range from $1,000 for a planter to $4,000 for a covered resting area. Sponsors will be recognized with plaques at their designated spot which sill serve as a legacy in a space enjoyed by the entire community.
Proceeds will go toward the installation, maintenance, and future improvements of this vital recreation space.
